All things fabulous
there need to be more of these occurrences in the world
here’s a random list of things I think are super niche and chic, in no particular order. taking inspo from my favourite girl on TikTok.
cultured recommendations — ever talking to someone and they ask “omg have you ever read ____” and it’s not the most popular or trending piece of media out there. it’s something they feel like you genuinely would like based on your conversation with them. ugh to be lost in those chats
going out for lunch — I know the most popular meal to eat out is dinner, but hear me out. going out for lunch is so chic and funemployed. you feel as if your day was so full of joy and you still have the rest of the day to relax/ do whatever you want. I love it. even better if it’s brunch
being a sweetie & a lover — pretty self explanatory. you’re so kind, thoughtful, generous and treat others with warmth. you know how to be loving and attentive without it coming across as disingenuous or over the top. and the more you radiate this, the more it comes back to you. good things all around
big dreamers — people who know what they want is bigger than what they’ve ever seen or experienced, yet they light up because of their vision. big dreams, beautiful things, love, abundance and ease. wanting a lot and not apologizing for it and going for the stars with grace through faith.
substack writers — not biased (I barely constitute as one lol). everyone who has such profound thoughts which they can articulate so well on paper. can you give me a glimpse into your mind? a personal goal is to be more of that nature
cooking as an art — people who truly cook, but just follow recipes but commit to the process, make up their own as they go. every meal, every dessert is an ongoing experiment and they try to curate it to their level of perfection. especially when it doesn’t land, they try again. the devotion behind that kind of repetition is mastery
having a niche hobby — a very specific, slightly impractical, deeply personal obsession that one doesn’t explain. they just do it whenever they want, whenever they can and they love it
a crisp glass of red wine — a fresh bottle, a generous pour, a thin glass. the most amount of yap over diner, unhurried but not indulgent. done by 9pm. satisfied. that exact balance feels so luxurious to me.
movie at the theatre — there’s just something about buying a ticket, sitting in the dark with strangers and letting the experience immerse you. you can’t get it at home and this is even better if you go alone and often (I would love to go once a month)
not offline but not chronically online — people who are so present in their real lives that they forget/ don’t want to be online so much. yet they’re still very tuned in and socially fluent without being consumed (I like to think this is very much me)
sunglasses & iced coffee — going for a coffee run in the late afternoon just cause you feel like it. sunglasses are salient here because this only works if the sun is out. a little nippy, a little warmth of the sun, iced coffee in hand. i’m already imagining doing this tomorrow.
having an older mentor — people who have someone to go to who offers wisdom freely, but their also curious enough about your life because the vast age gap makes it that much more interesting. the kind of relationship where learning moves in both directions. you feel so good about yourself and your life after speaking with them
a new song on repeat — when something new comes out and it matches your current stage. you play if obsessively for a few days until it imprints itself into that specific moment in your life. I can’t put into words how magical this feeling is
